Gold

Physical gold is considered a safe-haven asset that can help to diversify an investment portfolio. Gold has not only steadily increased in value over time but it also provides protection from the devaluation of fiat currencies. Even during some of the most devastating economic events in history, gold has outperformed stocks and paper assets because it remains shielded from market failures. Whether you want to preserve your wealth or save for retirement, buying gold is always a wise investment choice.

Gold Coins

Gold coins can be easily afforded by all types of investors and converted into cash whenever required. That said, some gold coins have a collector’s value, and the rarer the coin, the higher the premium. There is a wide variety of gold coins to consider including commemorative pieces and collector’s items. While gold coins are considered legal tender in the country in which they were produced, the value of each coin tends to be higher than its face value, as well as its bullion content.

As gold coins are still being produced by various renowned mints across the globe, there is an abundance of choice with regards to gold coin designs. From the United States Mint and Royal Mint to the Perth Mint and Royal Canadian Mint, each coinage facility will produce a set number of gold coins each year. Some mints also strike limited edition gold coins, meaning they are produced in smaller numbers so that they become even more valuable in the future.

Certified Gold Coins

Certified gold coins offer peace of mind that your gold has been certified by a professional grading company. The grading process involves confirming the quality and authenticity of each coin so that buyers can rest assured that their gold coins are genuine. Once a coin has been graded accurately, it is placed in a tamper-evident holder, where the coin must remain sealed in order to maintain its given grade. Within the holder and on display is the grade, unique serial number and barcode.

Many investors refuse to buy anything other than certified gold coins, and with good reason. As well as being more valuable, certified gold coins are better protected and retain their fine details when kept in their plastic holders. All investment grade gold coins purchased through Capital Gold Group are certified and graded by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), the most respected names in the industry.

Gold Bars

While some collectors are attracted to gold bars, demand comes mostly from investors. This is mainly because gold bars do not have a collector’s value and the premium on gold bars is typically much lower than coins, meaning more ounces for less. Of course, that’s not to say that gold coins aren’t an excellent investment vehicle though. As previously mentioned, gold has always held its value so it really comes down to budget, personal preference and financial goals.

Gold bars are produced by both government and private mints, including the Perth Mint, Engelhard and Sunshine Minting to name a few. The majority of gold bars available today are minted, however, you can discover cast bars (hand-poured bars) as well. Regardless of size, most gold bars display the bar’s weight, purity and refiner’s logo. Plus, they come in many different sizes, from the commonly traded 1 oz varieties to the rather large 400 oz bars. Gold bars are also one of the easiest forms of physical gold to buy and sell.
