Minted in Germany, Geiger Silver Bars are hugely popular for their remarkable security features and sentimental designs.

While Geiger Silver Bars come in various shapes and weights, they are all composed of .999 pure silver and display a rather special piece of artwork. Produced at the Geiger Edelmetalle Mint in Germany, investors and collectors have the choice between Geiger Minted Bars and Security Line Silver Bars.

The front of each Geiger Silver Bar features a pressed stamp of Schloss Guldengossa, a Baroque castle situated near the German city of Leipzig. Castle Guldengossa also happens to be the company’s headquarters. Other markings on the obverse include the Mint name, the weight, and FEINSILBER 999 (fine silver 999). However, the minted 1 oz. and gram bars will have this information on their reverse side with a much larger image of Schloss Guldengossa on the obverse.

On the reverse of Geiger Silver Bars is a textured repeating design of the LEV-rhombus, the logo of the mint’s production company. More impressively, these bars are made with a number of innovative security features for protection against counterfeiting and manipulation. We should also mention that the included security features of each bar will vary depending on which piece is being purchased.

Innovative Security Features of the Security Line Silver Bar

The Geiger Edelmetalle Mint carefully incorporates advanced security features into its Silver Security Line Bars to enable owners to verify each bar’s authenticity. But that’s not all. Some of the innovative security features have been designed to help bar owners in the event of loss or theft, and other security elements help to put a stop to counterfeits.

One of the most noticeable security features is the bar’s ribbed edge, mainly found on the larger Security Line Geiger Silver Bars. Rather than displaying a standard smooth finish, the bar’s sides have a pattern of slightly raised bands similar the edge of a coin, making it difficult for anyone to reproduce these pieces.

Another visible security feature is the security label attached along the bottom edge of the bars, which displays a unique serial number. This label allows the bar owner to check if the Geiger Edelmetalle Mint actually produced the piece they have purchased. Not only is the serial number on the label designed to confirm the bar’s authenticity but also track the bar when lost or stolen.

There are also two other detectable security features including the pearl surface on the obverse and the textured nature of the reverse side, both of which are minting techniques exclusive to the Geiger Edelmetalle Mint. Again, these unusual surfaces make it virtually impossible for anyone to replicate these silver bars.

Then there’s the most remarkable security feature of them all. The UV Reflective Varnish. Every Security Line Geiger Silver Bar made from 2013 has been enhanced with an invisible varnish that reveals the year of minting and LEV rhombus in a deep blue color when the bar is held under a UV light. As you can imagine, this security feature is also a formidable obstacle for any potential counterfeiter.

Geiger Edelmetalle

Established in 1218, Geiger Edelmetalle is a family owned business with its headquarters at Schloss Guldengossa near Leipzig, Germany. Its founders started out as merchants who went on to develop the oldest silver trade in Germany. It seemed only fitting for Geiger Edelmetalle to base itself at Castle Guldengossa, especially as the building has a history that’s closely connected to the local silver trade. In the 18th century, the castle was owned by the famous composer Johann Sebastian Bach and a friend, both of which invested in silver and owned stocks of silver mines.

Geiger Edelmetalle is now the oldest precious metals trading company in Germany and is highly respected for meeting the standards set by the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA). The company is also renowned for offering fine bullion pieces that are made from precious metals provided by Leipziger Edelmetallverarbeitung, a high class private German mint.
